About the Artist
BioTexas native, Donna Kaye Compton, has been a professional artist since 1982. Her first works were Americana Folk Art using acrylic paints. She taught Acrylic art classes for several years, was commissioned to do custom work in homes that included Parade of Homes in Dallas, TX area as well as murals, one of which is on an historic theatre in downtown Carrollton, TX. Donna has since added oil, watercolor, colored pencil and collage art to her medium of art. She enjoys painting abstracts, realism and portraits. Donna credits much of her continued enthusiasm for art to her membership in the Creative to Thrive Mentoring with Matt Tommey on Facebook.
Artist Statement
For Donna, art tells a story that is in the heart of the beholder. She enjoys hearing what others see and feel when they contemplate one of her creations. For her, art is an open door to creating something she could call her own and love every moment of it.
